About MAVRIC Media, Inc.
The Founders of MAVRIC Media are a close knit team, with digital media industry roots tracing back to Ampex Corporation, where the videotape recorder was invented and where they all worked early in their careers. At Ampex, Breene Kerr was a videotape recording engineer in the Broadcast Engineering Group working on the flagship video editing product; Don Smith held a variety of sales positions at Ampex before moving on to managing the emerging markets sales group for Silicon Graphics; and Dana Smith worked at Ampex, Silicon Graphics, Netscape and Sun Microsystems in both product marketing and marketing communications roles in the digital media, entertainment and enterprise markets.
More recently, they teamed up at the Intel funded startup, Asset Factory, where they pioneered
the concept of an online digital media service bureau and developed proprietary
network rendering technology before being acquired by NewTek, Inc. (a leading 3D software
company). While at Asset factory, they did early work in the field of media asset management
and developed concepts which, in retrospect, were years ahead of their time. Ironically,
over 5 years later, with the wide adoption of broadband technology, near zero cost of
storage and the newly perceived value of digital media assets, the market is ready to
embrace these concepts and services.
The core team has been re-assembled, and the company is presently putting the pieces in
place to launch its hosted media asset management service on a larger scale. For more information about MAVRIC Media, contact us at info@mavricmedia.com
